Announcing the Dollars 4 Tic Scholars 2015 Scholarship Recipients!

It is with extreme pleasure that Kelsey and I announce that thanks to generous donations from our friends and supporters all over the country, The Kelsey B. Diamantis TS Scholarship Family Foundation, Inc. DBA Dollars 4 Tic Scholars this inaugural year was able to fund scholarships for three deserving college students!

design1We received 21 applications for our scholarships for students with Tourette Syndrome from all around the U.S. Our Selection Committee had a challenge on its hands, because these outstanding students were so deserving. We were very happy with the quality of students, and how much they had accomplished despite the academic challenges that Tourette’s can bring.

Our intent was to award two $1000 scholarships this year. Our plans changed when we had a tie in the evaluation results. Instead of one $1000 scholarship and two at $500, we decided to increase the total award fund by $500 and give two $750 scholarships.

Dollars 4 Tic Scholars Scholarship Recipient Jordan Bernstein

Jordan Matthew Bernstein

 

The 2015 Dollars 4 Tic Scholars Tourette Syndrome Scholarship Sponsored by the Brad Cohen Tourette Foundation – $1000

Awarded to Jordan Matthew Bernstein, Boca Raton, Florida

Jordan is a graduate of Spanish River High School. He will be attending the University of Florida as a freshman beginning this summer. His major will be Mathematics with a minor in Physics and Chemistry. Jordan was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age 6. Since seventh grade, he has served as a National Youth Ambassador for the Tourette Syndrome Association of America.

D4TS Scholarship Recipient Jensen Kaplan

Jensen Max Kaplan

Awarded to Jensen Max Kaplan, Wellington, Florida

Jensen graduated from Suncoast High School, Riviera Beach, FL. He will be attending the University of Florida as a freshman this fall. His major will be Astrophysics with the goal of earning his Ph.D. Jensen was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age 7.

D4TS Scholarship Recipient Bethany Spencer

Bethany Anastashia Spencer

Awarded to Bethany Anastashia Spencer, Inman, South Carolina

Bethany graduated from South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville, SC. She will attend Clemson University in the fall as a freshman,
and will be majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She plans on conducting research on brain mapping to more efficiently plant electrodes in Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. Bethany was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age 17.
