2018 D4TS Tourette Syndrome Scholarship Recipients
The 2018 Dollars 4 Tic Scholars Tourette Syndrome Graduate Student Scholarship – $1500
Awarded to Dakota Austin Eads, Cape Coral, FL
Dakota (Cody) is a Masters of Social Work candidate who is entering his second year in graduate school. His goal is to be a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and serve individuals with disabilities. Cody attends the University of South Florida. He was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when he was 19.

Awarded to Rachel Elena Keener, Midlothian, TX
Rachel graduated from Midlothian High School and will be attending Texas A&M University in College Station, TX in the fall as a freshman. Rachel will be double majoring in Biochemistry and Statistics. She hopes for a career in medical research and hopes to research auto immune diseases, work with patients seeking treatment for auto immune diseases, and potentially teach. She hopes to volunteer her time in clinics or with a non-profit that helps train physicians in developing countries. Rachel was diagnosed with Chronic Tic Disorder at age 16.

Awarded to Jason Bumbarger Ingerick, Arden, NC
Jason will be attending Northeastern University in Boston, MA in the fall as a sophomore. Jason was on the Dean’s list in his freshman year. Jason is majoring in chemistry. His goal is to attend Harvard Medical School to become a surgeon, and also to research treatment for peripheral neuropathy. At Northeastern, he is active in the student chapters of several medical associations including the American Chemical Society and the American Medical Student Association. He enjoys roller hockey, soccer and snowboarding. Jason is an Eagle Scout. He was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age 9.

Awarded to Maggie Rose Cincotta, Vista, CA
Maggie graduated from Mission Vista High School in Oceanside, California. She will be attending Baylor University in Waco, TX as a freshman. Her major will be nursing. Her goal is to help people medically, and says her passion stems from growing up with Tourette Syndrome and admiring the work the nurses did for herself and other children. Maggie is a member of the National Honor Society, has tutored fellow students in American Sign Language, and competes in and assists in management of equestrian competitions. She has been a volunteer for the American Red Cross Association, at a performance horse stable and as a campus tour leader. Maggie was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when she was 5.

Awarded to Jonah Benjamin Hinds, Oshkosh, WI
Jonah is from Oshkosh, WI. In the fall, he will be continuing as a sophomore at Milwaukee School of Engineering. His major is Biomedical Engineering. He was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when he was 8. His condition was so extreme that he had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery when he was 11. He has chosen biomedical engineering so that he can give back to the field that changed his life. Jonah has been very involved in extracurricular activities and volunteerism.

Awarded to Jacob Malloy Fleming, Tampa, FL
Jacob graduated from Howard W. Blake School of the Arts High School in Tampa, FL. In the fall, he will attend Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a major in Songwriting. He looks forward to a career in music, and would like to help others with Tourette Syndrome through his craft. He was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when he was 7. Jacob founded a local band and played with his high school guitar orchestra and jazz band, and performed in school recitals and productions. He has volunteered in community radio and for numerous charity events.
