My name is Mario Rama and I am a student at Connections Academy in Georgia. As my parents taught me, It’s not where you come from, it’s what you do with the opportunities and gifts you are given. When I was 7 years old I was diagnosed with Tourettes, ADHD, and OCD. I decided early on that I was going to help others overcome by showing that I could overcome. My diagnosis is life long battle that I proudly carry as a badge of courage and honor.
With that said, I have never viewed my situation as a handicap, rather a blessing from God. Despite my diagnosis, I have maintained a 3.7 GPA, became the starting WR/Punter for the #1 ranked and NHSA National Champion Georgia Force Varsity High School Football Team. I have also attended the Twitch and Shout Camp in Ga every year since it started and plan on being a counselor for as long as the camp exists.
I am passionate about people and my studies giving 110% effort in both. As a representative of my family, everything I do and say is a reflection of my character.
I will be attending Lawrence Tech University to study pre-Med in the fall of 2018 because I felt they had the same passion for people as I do . I also feel that they will challenge me both academically and physically, teach me to be a more complete community member, athlete and student.
